Obituary for Robert T Barklage

Robert T. (Bob) Barklage, 85, of Manchester died suddenly at home on Thursday March 19, 2020. Born in Mineola, NY, he resided in Freehold, NJ for 30 years before moving to Renaissance in Manchester, NJ, 17 years ago. In his early career, he owned and operated two Mobil service stations, in Roslyn and Garden City, NY, before enjoying a long career as a Regional Sales Manager with Citgo Petroleum. He proudly served in the Navy Reserves for 6 years. After he retired, he worked at the golf course at Joint Base McGuire Dix Lakehurst Base as a starter and bartender, where he greatly enjoyed talking and interacting with his friends and fellow golfers. He was a member of the Renaissance ROMEOs (Retired Old Men Eating Out) Lunch Club and loved golf, the beach, and most of all, spending time with his family and beloved grandchildren. Surviving are his loving wife of 61 years, Janet (nee Davis), daughter, Kerin M. Barklage of Manchester, daughter Donna M. DeSantis (Brian) of Mint Hill, NC, son Matthew J. Barklage (Maria) of Allentown, PA and daughter Claire B. Canady (Joel) of Midlothian, VA, one brother, William Barklage (Mary) of Sarasota, FL, his sister-in-law Dorothy Brown of Rockville Centre, NY and 4 adoring grandchildren, Robert and Michael DeSantis and Christopher and Jason Canady. He also leaves behind his 6 nephews and their families, and countless lifelong friends. A Memorial Mass and celebration of his life are being arranged for a later date.
