Obituary for Richard A Fussell

We are deeply saddened to share that Richard A. Fussell, 68, of Manchester, NJ, has passed away last Thursday morning on January 9, 2020. Rich was a devoted husband and loving father. Our 27 years of marriage was a beautiful romance, full of love and laughter; he always brought me red roses without any occasion. We still held hands while walking down the street, after all these years. We still told each other “I Love You” every day and every night; these were his last words to me before he passed. Rich was my best friend, my confidant and my most avid supporter. I am blessed to have a lifetime of cherished memories with this wonderful man.

Rich grew up in Watchung, NJ and we started our life together in Westfield and Cranford, NJ for over 25 years before moving to Manchester in 2018. His extensive 30-year experience in design and manufacture of luxury automotive wood trims later paved the way to 3D computerized designs of stage settings for famous Broadway productions (such as The Jersey Boys, Peter Pan and The Wizard of Oz) and for various New York Fashion Week venues. Rich was a brilliant man and his proficiency in laser technology through CNC and CAD-CAM applications was unrivalled. When manufacturing jobs shifted to China and Mexico, he was the leader against this crusade. “I’m the last person who still “makes things” in the United States!” Friends often said “Rich, you should enter Shark Tank!” because he has invented many, many gadgets. He always needed to tinker with his hands and was a keen problem-solver.

As Rich journeys to the stars, he joins his father, Richard who passed in 2014. He leaves behind his mother, Marie Fussell, his wife Ruth Fussell, his children--Richard S. Fussell, Nadine Durham & her husband Tim, Jake Fussell, Hannah Fussell and Sasha Sheaff & her husband Phil, his brother Craig Fussell and his wife Sharon, and 2 grandchildren, Rafi Sheaff and Zelda Durham. Rich: remember that you are loved beyond words and beyond measure. Sweet is your memory, precious is your name, close to our hearts forever you’ll remain.

Visitation is Wednesday, Jan 15th at 5-8 PM at Oliverie Funeral Home 2925 Ridgeway Rd Manchester. Funeral Prayer Service is Thursday, Jan 16th at 11 AM at the funeral home.
