Mary-Jim Barabas, 92, of Westlake, Jackson, died Thursday, June 23, 2022 at home. Born in Somerville, she had resided in the Flagtown section of Hillsborough, and in Point Pleasant before moving to Jackson 20 years ago. The road she grew up on in Flagtown, Clawson Avenue, was named after her grandfather, as he was an accomplished inventor with Clawson Machine Company producing various machines including vending, slots, ice shavers, weighing scales, and bicycle pumps. Mary-Jim had a love of finances and had worked for 10 years as the bookkeeper for Visitation Church in Brick. She enjoyed shows, dining out, playing cards – rummy & blackjack, bingo, crafting, dancing, shopping, and antiquing. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Henry “Ed” Barabas; sons: Edward J. & Pamela Barabas, and Mark H. & Julie Barabas; daughter: Jamie L. & Glenn Wissocki; grandchildren: Dustan, Jeffery, Jillian, Scott, Christopher, Matthew, Amy & Jonathan; and 11 great grandchildren. Visitation is Friday, 9-11 am, at Oliverie Funeral Home, 125 S. Cooks Bridge Road, Jackson, with interment & services, 12:30 pm, at South Branch Reformed Cemetery, Hillsborough. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dementia Society of America, PO Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18910.
