Obituary for Martha M Veech

Martha Marie Veech of Jackson, New Jersey, passed away on September 11, 2022, at the age of 82. Martha is survived by her husband of 63 years, Warren Veech, and three children: Noreen Bruns of Long Branch, N.J., wife of Charles; Warren “Skip” Veech, Jr. of Randoph, N.J., husband of Joanne; and Robyn Wood of Lakewood, N.J. Martha was loved by her eight grandchildren: Steven Bruns of Peekskill, New York, husband of Rachel; Warren “Bill” Veech III of Randolph, N.J., husband of Chrissy; Blaise Veech of Cedar Grove, N.J., husband of Carly; Kevin Bruns of Lincoln Park, N.J.; Amanda Medich of Middletown, N.J., wife of Stephen; Madison Wood of Lakewood; KayCee Wood of Lakewood; and Dustyn Wood of Hazlet, N.J. In addition, Martha also loved her great-grandson, Brody Veech of Cedar Grove, N.J.

Known affectionately by many as “Marty,” Martha became the matriarch of her family after the passing of her parents, Ralph and Maria Mattiello, who emigrated from Italy, brother Michael Germino and sister Mildred Germino. Martha is survived by her sister Lina “Dee” Mattiello of Mahwah, N.J.; brother Joseph Mattiello of Lincoln Park, N.J., husband of Inge; and sister Virginia Hunt of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina, wife of Ted. Martha will also be remembered fondly by many other family members and friends whose company she enjoyed over the years.

Martha was born in Nutley, N.J., on February 13, 1940, and moved with her family to Clifton, N.J., at a young age. She graduated from Clifton High School in 1958. Martha and Warren married that December 6 and started their family the following year. They moved to Bloomfield, N.J., in 1962, where they lived for 48 years until moving to Jackson in 2010. While living in Bloomfield and helping raise her children, Martha worked at ADP in Clifton, the Motor Vehicle Agency in Wayne, N.J., and People’s Bank in Bloomfield, among other places.

Martha’s main interests in life were always her family and friends. She enjoyed being with her husband and surrounded by their children and grandchildren at family celebrations and during holidays. She looked forward to sea cruises and other vacations, trips to Atlantic City, N.J., going out to dinners, or simply visiting or being visited by family and friends. She was an excellent cook and always prepared enough food to share with family and friends she hosted.
