Obituary for Margaret E Hart
Margaret Elizabeth Selina Hart, 83, of Whiting passed away Saturday April 23, 2022 at Community Medical Center, Toms River, NJ. Born in Englewood to William and Margaret Hart, the oldest of 3 children. She attended the Academy of Holy Angels School for Girls, Fort Lee. and her degree in Business Management from St Peter’s College, Jersey City.
Early on Margaret worked for Goldman, Sachs & Co. in London, England. She switched over to Oppenheimer and Co. and then finally landed with First Boston (London based). In 1976 she returned to New York and continued with Credit Suisse First Boston as Asst Vice President until 1998.
Margaret, known to her family as Sookie, embraced life with vigor and traveled extensively, spanning 5 continents. Recently she kept her traveling limited to cruises, or her favorite, the Dominican Republic, often for 1-2 months at a time. She was a member of Soroptimists International and advocated for women's rights. Margaret also was involved in the Fort Lee Historical Society and Library residing in her native Fort Lee for many years before moving to Whiting in 2015.
She is survived by her nephew Michael Hart and children, nieces- Noreen Hart-Keeler and Selina Hart, the children of her brother (William Hart Jr. deceased) and her brother Kenneth Hart.
