Obituary for Joseph M Militano

Joseph M Militano 83 of Manchester died Friday April 1, 2022 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Born in Queens, NY he resided the majority of his life in Brooklyn before moving to Manchester 18 years ago. He worked for the NY City Housing Authority worked his way up from maintenance man to superintendent before retiring in 2004. He was an amazing artist with oil paintings, he can play any instrument he picked up and has a great green thumb. He has an amazing singing voice & was a member of the Westernaires in Leisure Village West. He is a survivalist and believed everyone should carry a pocket knife and a member of the NRA, National Rifle Association. He was a Ham Radio Operator with call letters KC2QLA and loved all animals. He was very interested in technology and had the first Tandy home computer that came out and taught himself how to write code. Along with his love one books,he loved to bake the best ever sour dough bread and cook Japanese food especially Shrimp & Vegetable Stir Fry. He was extremely handy and could fix anything. Survived his wife of 63 years, Charlotte whom he met 68 years ago and loved to go dancing and singing in the rain with. His son, Joseph Militano Jr & wife Denise, 2 daughters, Andrea Glessing & husband Patrick, Diane Militano & fiancé Jeanette Ponce, 2 sisters, Frances Macchiarola & Rose Corr and 7 grandchildren, Alycia, Kevin, Ryan, Erik, Andrea, Victoria & Olivia and 3 great grandchildren, Saul, Charlotte & Abigail. He will be missed terribly. Visitation is Saturday, April 9, 2022 from 2-6 PM with a 5 pm service at Oliverie Funeral Home 2925 Ridgeway Rd Manchester. In lieu of flowers please make donations to your favorite cancer charity or a plant the family may take home and plant in Joe’s Garden.
