John O. "Jack" Newman 88 of Berkeley Township died on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he resided in Lakewood for 46 years before moving to Holiday City 9 years ago. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict serving aboard the USS LST #1 160 for most of his enlistment. He enjoyed playing cards, going to Atlantic City, and Favorites (OTB). He also enjoyed playing golf. The Olive Garden
and the Fortune Buffet were among his favorite places to eat. He was employed with the Local #1 as a plumber for the City of New York for over 25 years before retiring 30 years ago. While there, he also taught plumbing. He is predeceased by his wife, Rosemary (Hoyt) Newman, who died in 2013. Surviving are 2 sons and their wives, Jack and Kathy Newman, Charles and Mary Newman all of Berkeley Twp., Beth and Donald Pender of Spring Hill, TN,
and Rose and Jeff Kaiser of Toms River. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Visitation is Tuesday from 4-8 pm at Oliverie Funeral Home, 2925 Ridgeway Road, Manchester. Funeral Liturgy is Wednesday at 10:00 am at St John's Church, 619 Chestnut Street, Lakehurst with burial to follow at St Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood.
