Obituary for John J Carbone Sr.

John J Carbone Sr 95 of Manchester died Thursday April 29, 2021 at home. Born, raised and resided in Brooklyn, he moved to Manchester in 1986 after retirement from New York City Fire Fighter Marine CO #6 serving from 1954-1986. He served in the Navy during World War II from 1943-1946 where he served on the USS Essex, Hancock and Lexington in the Asiatic Pacific (7stars), American Theatre and the Philippine Liberation (2 stars). His ship the USS Essex was hit by a kamikaze during this campaign. He was an avid Yankee fan. He enjoyed all sports and was a member of the Leisure Village West Softball, Tennis & Bowling Clubs. He also played golf enjoyed sudoku puzzles and playing craps in Atlantic City. He had a great sense of humor and was very witty and was always there for his family and friends. He is predeceased by his wife Jeanne in 2017. Surviving are his children, John J Carbone Jr & his wife Katherine, Thomas Carbone & his wife Pamela, Jeanne Carbone De Vitto & her husband Perry, 2 sisters, Judy Tosi and Marie Mano Smith, 7 grandchildren, Lauren, Ryan, Lisa, John, Jessica, Lauren and Tara and 5 great grandchildren, Trey, Giovanni, Cambria, Layla and Ava. Visitation is Sunday May 9, 2021 1-5 PM with a 4 pm service at Oliverie Funeral Home 2925 Ridgeway Rd Manchester. Interment is Monday May 10, 2021 12:30 PM at Brigadier Gen Wm C Doyle NJ Veterans Cemetery, North Hanover.
