Glenn Thomas Nilsen, son of the late Thomas and Astri Nilsen (nee Abrahamsen) was born on January 24, 1938, in Jersey City, New Jersey. Mr. Nilsen, a life-long resident of New Jersey, died peacefully in his home in Jackson, NJ on June 1, 2022.

Glenn is survived by his second wife of 12 years, Bonnie Nilsen (nee Bornkamp); his children, Debora Nilsen-Brown (William), Donna Thomas (Stephen), Dean Nilsen (Maria), Derek Nilsen (Krista), and Diane Boylan (Bob); Bonnie’s son Bradley Bornkamp (Dawn); his siblings, Parker Nilsen (Ruth), and Roger Nilsen (Janet); his fifteen grandchildren, William (Leigh), Alexander, and Mackenzie Brown; Ashlee and Katelyn Thomas; Matthew, Michael (Wally) and Rachel Nilsen; Thomas Child, Tyler (Nela) and Hunter Nilsen, Nicholas, Karl, Rebecca and Peter Boylan; and Bonnie’s grandchildren Cassia and Nicholas Bornkamp; and five great-grandchildren, William, Ellie and Hannah Brown, Jackson Thomas and Lorenzo Cani. He is predeceased (2008) by his first wife of 48 years, Marilyn Nilsen (nee Omland).

Glenn grew up in Maywood, NJ and graduated from Bogota High School in 1955. He attended the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY earning a Bachelor of Architecture in 1960. He served as Vice President of Sales for the MacKenzie Group in New York City for 35 years. On September 10, 1960, he married Marilyn Anna Omland, of New City, NY and resided in Bergenfield and West Milford, NJ. Glenn married Bonnie, of Marlboro, NJ on July 10, 2010, and resided in Jackson, NJ.

Glenn was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and devout Christian involved in many church activities, including singing in the choir. He was an avid Model Railroader and skilled craftsman in building a life-like model train layout in his home. He loved to travel and explore the United States with his family in their travel trailer, visiting many of the 50 states. In addition, he loved people and would strike up a conversation with everyone he met on his life journey. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Visitation is Sunday, June 5th from 4-8 PM, with a service at 7 PM at Oliverie Funeral Home, 125 S. Cooks Bridge Road, Jackson, NJ. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 6th at 11 AM at Park Evangelical Free Church, 4 Roosevelt Place, New City, NY, with interment to follow at Martinus Hogenkamp Cemetery, New City (next to Park Evangelical Free Church).
