Obituary for Ellen S Jordan

Ellen S Jordan 80 recently of Cranberry, PA died suddenly Saturday September 16, 2023 at University of Pittsburgh Passavant-McCandless Medical Center. Born in North River, Conception Bay, Newfoundland, Canada, she met her future husband while working at the Argentia naval station where they quickly married and spent 61 years together. While their early years were spent traveling to different duty stations as Frank attended schools while in the military. Their early years found them returning to Newfoundland. Ellen had 3 children two born in Canada and one in Rhode Island. After a transfer to Lakehurst naval air station in 1969, they settled into the area residing in Lakehurst from 1969-1974 and Toms River for 47 years. She worked as a contract compliance specialist and with pest control for Joint Base MDL, Lakehurst for 37 years before retiring in 2017. She worked hard at her job, working up from cleaning barracks to becoming a compliance specialist, and earning the title of “Woman of the Year,” at Joint Base Lakehurst. Ellen earned her high school diploma and became an American citizen in 1976. She was a hardworking, diligent, strong mother who was very active providing for her family. Ellen loved everyone. Adopting Faith and Larry late in life. She enjoyed spending time with her family & friends, and loved all her pets, especially her dogs. She was predeceased by her husband in 2022, Francis T Jordan Jr. her brother Patrick Cooney in 1997 and her Sister Mary Shaffer in 2023. Surviving are her children, Francis Jordan “Chip”, Michael Jordan, Sharon Ferraro, her two adopted children and siblings Michael Cooney, John Cooney and Lorraine Bruce and 5 grandchildren, Chelsey, Stacey, Kathryn, Larry “LJ” & Kimberly and 9 great grandchildren. Memorial Gathering is Saturday October 14, 2023 12 PM to 2 PM with a 1:30 PM Service.
