Obituary for Dorothy Cohen

Dorothy Frank Cohen 10/12/1925-10/11/2020. “Nana” died one day short of her 95th birthday at Community Medical Center in Toms River, NJ due to complications from pneumonia. Dorothy was born in the Bronx. She married Hal Cohen on March 23rd 1947. Dorothy was a graduate of Newark State College (now Kean Univ) and taught Eighth Grade English at Prall Intermediate High School on Staten Island. They lived in Cranford, NJ for 34 years and were long time antique dealers, owning Cranford Antiques and Rare Books. She was a lover of books, bridge, and art. Dotty was the founder and first president of the Renaissance Hadassah. She was predeceased by her parents Isidore and Flora and her doting husband Harold Cohen. She is survived by her daughter Julie, grandsons Dan and Joe and her granddaughter-in-laws Marissa and Michelle. Also survived by her cousin Rona and her husband John and their three children, and her great-grandchildren Benjamin, Adam, and Audrey. She is also survived by her cat, Mush. She was the matriarch of the Cohen/Gold family and will be sorely missed. Memorial Gathering is Thursday 10-:30-12:30 PM at Oliverie Funeral Home 2925 Ridgeway Rd Manchester. Inurnment to follow at Brigadier gen Wm C Doyle NJ Veterans cemetery, Arneytown.
