Obituary for Carmine C Iacono

It is with our deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Carmine “Carl” Iacono from natural causes at age 91, on December 15, 2020 at his home surrounded by his wife, 2 sons, and grandchildren. He was born in New York City on October 29, 1929, and he returned to Ragusa, Italy with his family around 3 years old where he lived until his early 20s. Then, he returned to the U.S. to pursue work and also attend New York University to continue the studies he began at the University of Rome. At age 24, he was inducted into the United States Army where he served 2 years stationed in Germany. He pursued a career in the New York State Court System for 31 years. In 1965, he met his wife Pat and they married in 1967. They moved to Staten Island to start their family and resided there for over 30 years before moving to the Fairways Community in Lakewood, NJ in 2000. At the Fairways, he enjoyed bocce, poker, bridge, and pinochle. He loved going to the fitness center and the pool for exercise. Carl was an avid sports fan and his favorite teams were the NY Yankees and UConn Huskies. He loved opera and his favorite artists included Andre Bocelli & Luciano Pavarotti. We will always remember the kindness and warmth he shared with his family and friends every single day. Surviving are his wife Pat of over 53 years, Pat, his two sons & their wives, Carl & Christi Iacono, Tom and Sheila Iacono, and his two grandchildren, Jack & Sophie. Visitation is Friday 2-6 PM at Oliverie Funeral Home 2925 Ridgeway Rd (Rte 571) Manchester. Funeral Liturgy is Saturday 10:30 AM at St Luke’s Church, Toms River with entombment to follow at Mary Queen of Peace Mausoleum in St Mary’s of the Lake Cemetery in Lakewood, NJ.
