Obituary for Ann Cofka

Ann Cofka 92 of Manchester died on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at home surrounded by family. Born in Scranton, PA, she lived in Toms River for 13 years before moving to Manchester in 1991. She was a Navy wife who traveled with her husband, Charles, to stations including Midway Island, Philadelphia, Rhode Island and Antigua, West Indies, often raising four children alone while he was out at sea. She belonged to the Fleet Reserve Post #124, Lakehurst. Ann was always very involved in her Navy base communities and worked several jobs in her lifetime, including Prudential Insurance, preschool teacher, and assembly line worker at Fluid Packaging. In her later years, she enjoyed time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was an avid reader, and loved to play the slots in Atlantic City. She is predeceased by her husband, Charles R. Cofka, who died in 1986. Surviving are 2 sons and their wives, Chuck and Stacey Cofka of Toms River, Mark and Tina Cofka of Brick, 2 daughters and their husbands, Lee and Tony Bruzaitis of Brick and Charlayne and William Rooney of Manchester, a sister, Katherine Herko of Vermont, 5 grandchildren, Jennifer and Kelly Rooney, Ashley and Jason Bruzaitis, and Shayla Cofka, and 3 great-grandchildren, Corbyn, Colton, and Skylar. Visitation is Wednesday from 10:30 am to 11:30 am at Oliverie Funeral Home, 2925 Ridgeway Road, Manchester with a funeral service being offered at 11:30 am. Burial will follow at the Brigadier Gen. William C. Doyle Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
