Albert J Berdel Jr, 90 of Renaissance in Manchester, NJ died Saturday March 27, 2021 at home. Born in Brooklyn NY, he resided on Staten Island for 37 years before moving to Manchester in 2001. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked as an electrical engineer for 35 years for Pfizer, Inc in New York before retiring in 1996. In retirement he enjoyed building his own model train display, playing Bocci, and especially playing in the weekly neighborhood Men’s Poker Group where he made the best of friends. He was a parishioner of St. John’s Church in Lakehurst. He is predeceased by his parents Albert J. & Marie Pepe, his sisters Anna and Marie, and his beloved wife of 58 years, Dorothy in 2015. Surviving are his daughters, Marta Barkhausen & husband Stephen, Gina Calabro & husband Anthony, son Matthew & wife Roberta and 6 grandchildren Jessica Lupon & husband Jordon, Rev Christopher Barkhausen, Alexis Berdel, Nicholas Calabro and Matthew and Robert Berdel, and great grandson Theodore Lupon. Visitation is Tuesday 3-7pm at Oliverie Funeral Home 2925 Ridgeway Rd Manchester. Funeral liturgy is Wednesday 10am at St John’s Church in Lakehurst, with Rev Christopher Barkhausen celebrating.
