Obituary for Agnes M Gallagher

A truly kind and caring person Agnes M Gallagher, 97, died Tuesday, December 15, 2020 peacefully at her home in Manchester, NJ. She was born and raised in Jersey City before moving 28 years ago to the “country house” her grandfather built where she spent many memorable summers with her cousins and family. In her early days she worked in the Office at Colgates located in downtown Jersey City. After that she was co-owner and beautician of Lucille’s Beauty Shop located on Newark Ave., Jersey City for 20 years before retiring in the 80’s. She then moved to Manchester and was a parishioner of St John’s Church. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to reunions of the 66th Fighter Wing Club comprised of WWII Air Force veterans. They travelled throughout the United States and England. She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren’s sporting events. She is predeceased by her husband Bernard J Gallagher in 2010 and her brother, Edward Foley. Surviving is her son and daughter-in-law, Brian & April Gallagher, 2 grandchildren, Ian & wife Anita, Lauren & husband Michael Brown Jr and 4 great grandchildren. Funeral Liturgy is Wednesday, Dec. 23rd 10 AM at St John’s Church, Lakehurst with interment to follow at Brig General William C Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Wounded Warrior Project, 3707th Avenue, New York, NY 10001. Due to current Covid 19 restrictions a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
