Robert Joseph Irwin, 79, of Whiting, died Saturday, June 17, at Hampton Ridge Healthcare, Toms River. Born in the Bronx, he had resided in Jackson for 36 years, and Candensis, PA for 14 years before moving to Whiting in 2014. He was a truck driver for Yellow Freight in Lakewood for 25 years before retiring in 1999. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps. He enjoyed woodworking, building model sailing ships, puzzles, the NY Giants, and his job as a truck driver. He loved his family, especially his wife. Robert was predeceased by his beloved wife, Margaret, in 2012; son, Christopher; parents, Robert & Margaret (Griffin); and his siblings. Surviving is his son and daughter in law, Robert & Amy; daughters and sons in law: Caroline & David George, and Adriane & Kenneth Bier; and 5 grandchildren: Kimberly, David, Melissa, Julia, & Christopher. Visitation is Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9pm at Oliverie Funeral Home, 2925 Ridgeway Road, Manchester, with a prayer service at 8pm. Interment will be private at Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg, PA.
