He worked as the Sales Manager for Ridgeway Plaza Wines & Liquors in Manchester for 7 years. Born in Lakewood, he lived in Manchester for 16 years. After graduating high school, he attended Cornell University and received an appointment to the US Naval Academy and the US Merchant Marine Academy. Ed was a respected member of the NJ Football Officials Association, Shore Chapter, since 1993, and was a member of the Chapter Council, serving as the group’s rules interpreter and assistant cadet trainer. He officiated at several state championships, including his final contest in December for one of the last games held in Giants Stadium. He also officiated the Pop Warner Eastern Regional Championships for the past 15 years, and the National Championships in Walt Disney World, Orlando, FL. Surviving are his parents, Edwin & Joan Brandt of Lakewood, Fiance Barbara Wright of Manchester, brother, Neil and wife Sandra of Wantage, sister, Kathi Brandt-Donner and husband Bruce of Berkeley Heights, nieces and nephews, Lindsey, Brian & Jodi Donner & Quinn & Matthew Brandt. Also surviving are his fiancé’s family including three grandchildren that were very important to him, Dylan, Bradley, & Rebecca. Visitation is Saturday 2-4 & 7-9 PM with funeral services at 8:30 PM at Oliverie Funeral Home 2925 Ridgeway Rd Manchester. Cremation is private.
