He worked as a cargo checker for many years before retiring in 1982. Born in New York, Mr. Sweeney resided in New York City for many years before moving to Manchester in 1983. He was a member of the Leisure Knoll Monthly Dance Committee, Fishing Club, Friday Bowling League and the Organ Club. Surviving are his wife of 19 years, Myrtle Sullivan Sweeney and 2 stepsons: Woodrow Jensen of Billings, MT, and Nels Jensen of Somerset, NJ. Additionally, there are 2 grandchildren: Courtney and Nels, and 2 great-grandchildren: Layne and Jensen. Visitation is Friday from 7-9 PM at Oliverie Funeral Home, 2925 Ridgeway Road, Manchester, with a service at 8 PM. Interment is Saturday, 11 AM, at Hollywood Memorial Park Cemetery, Union, NJ.
