Name: John Smihula Date: January 27th, 1920 - December 29th, 2009 Obituary: John Smihula 89 of Whiting died Tuesday December 29th at the Hamilton Place at the Pines in Whiting. He was a retired NYC Police Officer retiring in 1970 after 20 years of service from the NYPD 48th Precinct. Born in New York City, he lived in Toms River from 1970 until moving to Whiting in 1990. He was a Corporal serving in the Army during World War II from 1943-1944. He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church, at the Chapel of the Air Cathedral, Lakehurst. He is predeceased by his brother Walter G in March 2009. Surviving are his two nephews, John & Paul,and sister-in-law, Joan of Freeport, NY. Interment is Thursday 11 AM at the Brigadier Gen Wm C Doyle NJ Veteran's Cemetery Chapel, North Hanover Twp. A memorial Service will at a later date at the Hamilton Place at the Pines in Whiting.
