Obituary:
Theodore J Phillips, 71 of Whiting died Thursday December 24th at Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center, New Brunswick. He retired in 1998 after 30 years as Superintendant of Building Trades, for the NJ Turnpike Authority. Born in Morrisville, PA He lived in Hamilton Square for 7 years, and Manchester for 21 years before moving to Whiting in 1997. He served in the Air Force from 1956-60. He was a third degree knight and a founding & charter member of the St John’s Knights of Columbus Council #12940, Lakehurst. As a communicant of St John’s Church, he also was on the Resurrection Team, a Eucharistic Minister and helped count the weekly collections. He was a baseball coach for the Manchester Little League, and in Cedar Glen Lakes he was a member of the Golf Club and past president of the Security Club. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Dawn Connolly Phillips, sons, Brendan of Wall, Crag of Ft Worth TX, Charlie of Manchester, Eddie of Barnegat and daughter Cheryl Williams and husband Jim of Manchester, brothers Ben of Port Richie FA, Bill of Levittown, PA and Dave of Tullytown, PA, sister, Lillian Lambert of Levittown, PA and grandchildren Sara Rose, and Patrick of Manchester. Visitation is Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Oliverie Funeral Home 2925 Ridgeway Rd Manchester. Funeral Liturgy is Thursday 11 AM at St John’s Church, Lakehurst with entombment to follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.
